making it up as I go along
That looks like a very elaborate swap. I think some swaps can be a bit of a let down if the participants don't all contribute to the same degree, but earlier this year I took part in one that I really enjoyed, where 12 of us made one of the others a postcard artwork every few weeks until everyone had 11 handmade cards. It was quite a big commitment to sign up to but I found it very stimulating. If you look up 'Postman's Knock Blog' you'll see them all.
I've played in swaps with a bunch of people known to me - they were rather fun and not so arduous as to become annoying. One was swapping an Altoid tin filled with bits and pieces on a Christmas/Winter theme. You'd be amazed at how much stuff some folks can squeeze into such a small space - and how much fun other folks get when it comes to opening it up.But longer term swaps have been less successful and I've sent things off into the ether never to see them again. In particular, a machine embroidery round robin disappeared without trace. Shame.
Wow, it looks amazing - never seen it before.
